ACTE's Engineering & Technology Education Division (ETED) administers the following awards:
ETED Outstanding New Instructor Award The Outstanding New Instructor Award recognizes new teachers who have made significant contributions towards innovative and unique engineering and technical education programs and who have shown a professional commitment early in their careers. Members employed as full-time classroom/laboratory CTE instructors at the middle/secondary/postsecondary level are eligible recipients of this award. Multiple award winners may be designated in this award category. If you have an exemplary instructor, please enter your nomination by September 30. Award Guidelines Eligibility
Potential candidates must be employed as an engineering and/or a technical education CTE instructor at the middle, secondary, or post-secondary level and must be relatively new to the teaching profession with between 3 and 5 years of experience at the time of nomination. Award candidates must be active ACTE members at the time of the award nomination deadline. Criteria Candidates will be evaluated on the following criteria:

ETED Outstanding Business/Organizational Partner Award This award recognizes the vital role and commitment of business and community partners in supporting career and technical education in the content areas included within the ETED Division. Award recipients will have demonstrated a commitment in supporting and/or promoting division-related career and technical education programs through partnership with ACTE and the Engineering & Technology Division. Multiple Award winners may be designated in this award category. Award Guidelines Eligibility Greater consideration will be given to partnerships that demonstrate sustainability and innovation (in either the partnership itself or its outcomes.) The partnership should fall within one of the content areas listed below:

Neven Frantz ETED Outstanding Instructor Award This award recognizes the finest career and technical instructors at the middle/secondary/postsecondary school level who have demonstrated innovation in the classroom and lab environments, commitment to their students, and dedication to the improvement of CTE in their institutions and communities. Members employed as full-time classroom/laboratory CTE instructors at the middle/secondary/postsecondary level are eligible recipients of this award. Multiple award winners may be designated in this award category. Award Guidelines Eligibility Potential candidates will instruct at the middle/secondary/postsecondary level in one of the Career Cluster categories listed below:
Candidates must be employed as a classroom/laboratory CTE instructor at the middle/secondary/postsecondary level and have at least five years of instructional experience at the time of initial nomination. Award candidates must be active ACTE members at the time of the award nomination deadline. Criteria
Application Requirements: Two letters of recommendation (at least one from an ETED member), a current resume, current transcripts, and evidence of leadership contributions to the profession. Nominations are due September 30. |
ETED Outstanding Instructional Program Award This award will recognize quality Career Technical Education (CTE) programs that have demonstrated excellence within the content related areas of ACTE’s Engineering and Technology Education Division. The award winning programs will highlight uniquely inventive and effective approaches to stimulating student learning, raising student achievement, offering extensive work-based learning experiences, and increasing student postsecondary and career prospects, Multiple Award winners may be designated in this award category. Award Guidelines Eligibility Potential candidates will instruct at the middle/secondary/postsecondary level in one of the Career Cluster categories listed below:
Nominated middle/secondary/postsecondary level programs must have an association with ACTE’s Engineering & Technology Education division. At least one of the program instructors will be a current member of ACTE. Program instructors should all be appropriately licensed according to individual state licensing guidelines. Criteria Outstanding Program nominations will be evaluated on the following criteria: Program Design: The program includes objectives, expected outcomes, and expected student competencies. Other considerations include program accessibility, program promotion, and enrollment based on current and future student and workplace needs.
Curriculum: Program follows a curriculum outline that is mapped to both local and national content area standards and has been recently revised in the past five years. All faculty members, employers, community partners, and parents have opportunity to give input on the curriculum.
Employer and Community Partnerships: The program has an advisory committee that gives input on activities, program design, resource utilization, and program outcomes. Program Outcomes: Student competencies meet workplace standards and result in appropriate placement. Students participate in leadership/development activities. Graduate and employer follow-up studies provide data for program updating and planning. Nominations are due September 30. |
