Advancing Career & Technical Educators Symposium is a professional development experience, held in conjunction with the Association for Career and Technical Education’s (ACTE) national conference, CareerTech VISION 2022.
The Symposium is open to any preservice and beginning alternatively certified career and technical education majors. Current membership in ACTE is not required, but if selected, membership would be required. (Student membership in ACTE is free.)
Twenty individuals will be selected from completed applications that will be evaluated by the Advancing Career & Technical Educators Symposium Advisory group.
This year’s conference will be in Las Vegas December 1 – 3. Programming will begin on Wednesday, November 30th with special focus sessions and opportunities to attend state and division meetings as available. Wednesday’s sessions provide customized professional development, networking, and mentoring with current and future CTE teachers and stakeholders from across the country. Participants will be required to attend all sessions in person from Wednesday morning, November 30 through the closing general session held Saturday December 3rd.
The Advancing Career & Technical Educators Symposium will focus on the following:
- Inclusion/Access/Equity/Diversity (IAED)
- Classroom Management for the CTE professional (to include) Work-based learning)
- Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs)
- High quality CTE framework (and curriculum)
- Assessment and certifications
- CTE Learn Portal and professional development
- Networking and mentoring with ACTE colleagues
Applicants must submit:
- A completed application form.
- A no more than one-page (up to 500 of words) letter expressing your interest in and commitment to serving as an ACTE Advancing Career & Technical Educators Symposium participant and how you intend to use the learning obtained as a result of the experience.
- A no more than one-page statement (up to 500 of words) discussing the issues that you believe most profoundly affect new CTE educators today
- A résumé or C.V.
- A letter of support from your Education Program or principal.
- Completion of Program of Work Agreement
- Completion of Financial Obligation Agreement
- A headshot to be used for Symposium promotions
ACTE will provide selected participants (n=20) complimentary registration to the ACTE CareerTech VISION 2022 Conference and lunch and dinner on Wednesday, November 30. All other costs are the participant's responsibility. A $1,500 stipend will be provided to each participant to help with those additional travel and hotel costs.
All requirements of the application must be completed in order to be considered. Please submit your application by the deadline. Successful applicants will be notified once the Advancing Career & Technical Educators Symposium Advisory Group reaches a decision.
