2018 SCHOLARSHIP
For Health Career Educators

Purpose

The purpose of this award is to assist a health career education teacher in furthering their educational goals. The recipient of the award will receive a minimum of $500 up to $5,000 toward their chosen educational pursuit.

Criteria for the OHCETA HCE Scholarship includes:

1.   Currently employed as a health careers educator in a technical education program at the secondary or post-secondary level.

2.   The nominee must be an active member of OHCETA, OKACTE and ACTE.

3.   The applicant must meet one or more of the following criteria and the purpose of such will serve to enhance the applicant’s role in CTE (Career and Technical Education):

            a.   Seeking to obtain Continuing Education Credits (CEU)

            b.   Enrolled in an education program that will enhance their role in CTE (Career and Technical Education)

            c.   Seeking professional development training or experience

Application Requirements

You will be required to provide the following information (Part 1 and 2) as part of the online application.

 Part 1: Type the following (no more than 500 words total)

            a.         Description of current position

            b.         Contribution to CTE as an instructor/educator (innovativeness, uniqueness, effectiveness, and impact)

            c.         Intent of award and financial need

            d.         Current education/Professional Development/CEU being pursued

Part 2: Provide a Curriculum Vitae (CV) or a resume that must include but is not limited to:

            a.         Professional memberships and activities

            b.         Professional accomplishments

            c.         Education and work experience

            d.         Civic and community involvement

Part 3: Provide proof of enrollment in specified education.

            a.         Upload a copy of proof of enrollment in education course/program/school/conference.

Review Process

OHCETA Executive Council members, as appointed, will serve as the committee for this scholarship. The completed application must be returned by July 1, 2018 and the recipient will be notified in August during the Annual Summer Conference OCHETA luncheon. Click here to download the scholarship rubric . 

If you have received the HCE (formerly the Memorial Scholarship) previously then you do not qualify to receive this scholarship again. However, selection for this award does not disqualify applicants for receipt of any other OHCETA/OKACTE/ACTE awards. The form used by the awards committee to evaluate the candidates is provided for your information, attached to the bottom of this sheet.

Amount of award per each recipient will be dependent on application pool, intent and need for scholarship. The scholarship amounts will be determined by the HCE scholarship committee.
